Magnetic drive centrifugal pumps (DICKOW)
Description

DICKOW PUMPEN is a German manufacturer with over 110 years of experience in industrial pumps, specialised in metallic solutions for severe service applications where mechanical reliability, operational safety and process continuity are decisive. The company’s positioning is based on its own engineering, manufacturing oriented towards demanding applications and a product range capable of precisely meeting the real requirements of each installation, from chemical processes to thermal, petrochemical and refinery applications. Its portfolio includes mechanically sealed pumps and sealless magnetic drive pumps, a technology in which the company has established an international reputation.

In magnetic drive pumps, DICKOW PUMPEN starts from a clear principle: ensuring total fluid containment and eliminating the mechanical seal as a potential leakage point. Torque transmission is achieved through a magnetic coupling via a hermetically sealed containment shell, keeping the liquid isolated from the atmosphere. This architecture is particularly valuable for toxic, flammable, hazardous or air-reactive fluids, as it minimises emissions, improves plant safety and reduces the need for auxiliary sealing systems. In addition, by eliminating one of the most common failure points in process pumps, it contributes to reducing maintenance and total cost of ownership.

The technology translates into a broad range of hydraulic configurations. DICKOW offers single-stage volute casing centrifugal pumps, in horizontal and vertical inline versions, suitable for general service; multistage magnetic drive pumps, suitable for high differential pressures, greater heads and self-priming configurations; and side channel pumps, horizontal or vertical, useful for low flow, high head, liquid-gas mixtures or self-priming services. The company completes this offer with designs aligned with ISO 2858 / EN 22858 and solutions developed in accordance with API 685 and ISO 15783 for more critical applications. DICKOW thus adapts the hydraulics, materials, containment shell, internal bearings and thermal configuration to the real operating conditions of the service.

Choosing DICKOW PUMPEN means having a manufacturer capable of aligning pump design with service severity and installation requirements.

Other Features

Pump monitoring is key to protecting equipment integrity, avoiding unplanned shutdowns and reducing plant safety risks, as it enables early detection of anomalies in temperature, motor load, bearing condition and potential leaks. In magnetic drive pumps, this supervision is even more critical, because phenomena such as dry running, closed discharge valve, blocked recirculation channels, operation below minimum flow, magnet decoupling or temperature rise in the containment shell can rapidly lead to severe damage.

A particularly differentiating factor at DICKOW is the development of its own monitoring and protection solutions for magnetic pumps. Its patented MAG-SAFE® system has been designed to supervise sealless pumps and prevent serious failures by detecting temperature directly at the critical zone of the containment shell and the magnetic field, rather than at a more external point as with conventional PT100 sensors. This solution enables faster response to dry running, magnetic decoupling, overheating or conditions that could cause fluid vaporisation in the magnetic zone.

In addition, SHELL-SAFE® has been developed for monitoring non-metallic containment shells, particularly ceramic ones, by supervising circuit and insulation integrity, with intrinsically safe execution for classified areas.

Other monitoring solutions for magnetic drive pumps are available on request.
