Flame detectors and controllers (DURAG)
Description

DURAG is a German technology group with a very consolidated position in combustion monitoring and safety for thermal and industrial installations. Its offering combines reliable detection, ignition technologies and advanced process supervision, with a clear focus on functional safety, availability and combustion optimisation.

DURAG’s flame detectors and monitors are one of the brand’s historic pillars. They are designed to safely verify the presence of flame and, at the same time, provide useful information on intensity, stability and combustion behaviour.

The company works with UV, visible and IR optical technologies, as well as advanced parameterisation and diagnostic functions, which help to reduce false trips and improve real combustion control.

The natural application of these technologies is in energy, refining, chemical, petrochemical, cement, waste-to-energy, process boilers, turbines, furnaces and sulphur recovery units. Their deployment in these sectors reflects the equipment’s ability to maintain operational stability and service continuity under demanding process conditions.

DURAG provides a particularly solid approach when combustion safety and stability of the thermal process form part of the plant’s operational core.

Other Features

DURAG has developed the new Flame Supervisor flame monitoring system, which represents the new generation of flame supervision within the DURAG group and is set to become a new industry standard: compared to previous optical solutions such as the D-LX 110/710, the Flame Supervisor provides much faster commissioning thanks to Auto Learn, as well as parameterisation, adjustment and diagnostics via the Flame Companion App by USB, Modbus or Bluetooth, with superior adaptation to multi-burner configurations and virtually any type of fuel.

Its redundant dual-channel architecture, certified SIL 3, together with the Safe Landing function — which maintains safe operation for over 22 hours in the event of an internal failure — increases plant availability and minimises unplanned shutdowns.

Furthermore, its continuous shutterless monitoring, UV/IR detection — including compatibility with gases and H₂-ready — and fibre optic option make it a very versatile solution for demanding environments.

Compared to other solutions more oriented towards pilots or small burners, the Flame Supervisor is the ideal option for industrial customers seeking safety, flexibility, ease of integration and maximum operational reliability.
